oxford university logoOxford is a leading centre of learning and teaching and the oldest university in the English learning world. Oxford is a renouned university, consisting of both central University and colleges. The central University is categorized of academic departments and research centers, administrative departments, libraries and museums. The thirty eight colleges are self-governing and financially independent institutions, which are related to the central University of the federal system. There are also 6 permanent private halls, which were founded by different Christian and which still retain their Christian character.


Oxford is the home of several known scholarships, including the Clarendon Scholarship which was released in 2001 and the Rhodes Scholarship which has brought graduate students to gain knowledge at the university for more than a centenary. The university conductes the largest university press in the world and the largest academic library system in London. Oxford has educated many known alumni, including 27 Nobel laureates, 26 Prime Ministers of the Uk, and many heads of state from around the world.



The university is linked with 11 winners of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 5 in physics and 16 in medicine. Known Oxford thinkers and scientists include Tim Berners-Lee, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins. The actors Hugh Grant and Rosamund Pike also went to Oxford, as did the writers Oscar Wilde, Graham Greene, Vikram Seth and Philip Pullman.
Oxford’s first international student, named as Emo of Friesland, was enrolled back in 1190, while the modern day university prides itself on having an ‘international character’ with connections to almost each and every country in the world and 40% of its faculty drawn from overseas.

As a modern, research-driven university, It has numerous strengths but cites particular prowess in the sciences, having recently ranked the best in the world for medicine and among the top 10 universities globally for life sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, and the arts and humanities.
